Salzburg Old Town Walking Tour (Salzburg Part II)

Salzburg Old Town Walking Tour

Sambungan drpd previous entry,  Munich-to-Salzburg, after check in Hotel Mericure dan solat Zohor kami terus keluar drpd hotel menuju ke Salzburg train station utk cari makanan halal. Orang Salzburg tahu kita ni pelancong luar and they willing to help.
But, we managed to found a very good halal restaurant di Salzburg central station. Kebab and other fast food meal kat situ sngt sedap.

Salzburg Old Town

Salzburg’s Old Town formerly known as Altstadt, has not only been home to Mozart but also the setting for the Sound of Music. The city center has retained it graceful Baroque architecture by avoiding the conflict of the 30 Years War and suffer only minor damage during World War II. Since it still holds much of its old world charm, Salzburg’s Old Town is one of only 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Austria.

How to get here, you can easily walk from the main city center or take the bus, pretty much every bus line will have a Mirabell stop.

A lot of souvenir in this shop but expensive..

Getreidegasse

Getreidegasse is the main shopping street in Salzburg complete with Louis Vuitton, many jewelry stores (Schmuck), and even a very fancy McDonald’s with silverware and outdoor seating. You can really see the Medieval roots of this compact pedestrian street by the signage that hangs above each shop. In the Middle Ages almost no one could read so instead of having signs with business names on them, the shops would hang an icon for their trade or craft. Notice how the signs for the hat maker, locksmith, umbrella shop and many more have kept this signage tradition alive. It is really fun to get lost on Getreidegasse for a good hour and even better if you stop by any of the roadside gelato stands for a delicious treat.

Tommy Hilfiger, brand kegemaran hubs. Nasib baik butik tutup kalau tak mesti hubs nak masuk lagi..

Each shop di sepanjang pedestrian street hang their signage to keep their tradition katanya..

Butik LV tutup since hari weekend waktu kami dtg..nasib baik.kalau tak meroyan sekejap.hehe

Kapitelplatz Square

The big yellow ball and the man step on it, is Kapitelplatz Statue

This place often hosting music and artist events

A lot of souvenir shops along the street. You can get the cheap and also expensive souvenir here

Solo photo failed..hehe

From here. we can see the Festung Hohensalzburg at Mönchsberg Mountain. Initially built in 1077, and later enlarged between 1495 and 1519, it became one of the largest fortresses in Europe

Giant over-sized chessboard

Funicular (Festungsbahn):

The Funicular will save you a very steep walk to the top of Mönchsberg Mountain on your route to Hohensalzburg Fortress. The Funicular happens to be the oldest one in the world and also considered by many to be the oldest operating railway in the world.
Operating Hours: 8 am-Midnight
Ticket : €10.50/person which include admission to Hohensalburg Fortress. Since kami dah ada Salzburg Card Tour tu, no need to pay and just show the card at the counter. And if you plan nak hike up by foot and tak nak naik Funicular, boleh take the stairs at Toscaninihof (behind the Festival Hall) up to the top of Mönchsberg and reach the Fortress in about a 15 minute walk. Tapi rugila kalau tak naik Funicular sebab boleh tngk pemandangan yg cantik from the train..

Way to Funicular

Funicular Train.

Finally, we reach at the top of Hohensalbirg Fortress..SubhanaAllah, cantiknya pemandangan..

Hohensalzburg Fortess

Standing high over the city of Salzburg, the magnificent Hohensalzburg dominates the city, being its main tourist attraction. The castle is Europe’s biggest fortification and probably the most beautiful.
The castle hosts many events during the year, and it also has a major concert hall. Inside the castle there is a permanent Fortress Museum that can be visited anytime of the year.Getting there is quite simple: one can take the funicular railway from the downtown that runs every 10 minutes. If one is physically fit, the road to the castle can be made by walk in about 30 minutes. There are many things one can see taking a walk up to the castle that otherwise would be missed, so the second option is recommended for those being able to make it.
Inside the castle there are available audio guides in eight different languages: English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese.

Setakat itu sahaja aktiviti kami utk hari pertama di Salzburg which is walking tour activiti. Satu keping magnetic fridge tu pun dah 5Euro..baju t-shirt i love sazburg tu pun dah 8 Euro paling murah kami dpt.Nak beli sorang satu memang berpuluh kali fikir and at the end beli utk ayah dan bapa mertua je..hihi. Makanan halal di Old Town Salzburg memang takde langsung. So, sebelum datang sini, make sure makan kenyang2..sebab nak jalan2 dan pusing2 satu old town tu mengambil masa yang agak lama sebab kawasan dia luas.At least spend masa 3-4 hours kalau nak puas hati especially those yang peminat tegar Mozart.hehe..Rumah Mozart tu wajibla kena masuk kan. Tapi nak masuk kena beratur panjang dan agak lama jugakla nak menunggu. So, at the end kami tak masuk ke tempat tu dan melencong ke tempat lain..ehhe. Plus, kalau yang layan drama Korea Naeils Cantible, kalau perasan sini lah lokasi penggambaran mereka utk episod terakhir tu..fuhhh..hehe

Untuk hari ke-2 di Salzburg, mcm biasa check my next entry tau..ahakkss..--->>Humaira-di-mirabell-garden-salzburg
